Co-Funding Partnership with Open Philanthropy

Open Phil.png

Effective Giving UK facilitated a co-funding partnership between Effective Giving advisee Ben Delo and Open Philanthropy, a project funded by Facebook and Asana co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and Cari Tuna.

Ben will be providing funds (initially in the $5 million per year range as he gets started with his giving) for Open Philanthropy to allocate to our long-termist grantmaking, which assesses giving opportunities by how well they advance favorable long-term outcomes for civilization.

Giving Pledge

In April 2019, Ben Delo became a member of the Giving Pledge, an initiative created by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett for billionaires who pledge to donate the majority of their wealth to giving back. Effective Giving UK collaborated with Ben and the Giving Pledge team on his signing of the Pledge; you can see Ben’s full Giving Letter here

Effective Giving UK also participates in the wider Giving Pledge community by providing input on our grantmaking and engaging in learning sessions. Sessions include live events on taking action on COVID-19 with Dr. Scott Dowell and Dr. Larry Brilliant,  Q&As with Bill and Melinda Gates, and deep dives on climate change with the Climate Leadership Initiative.
